To the superwoman of my life

Well, this day actually belongs to my Mom, May 7 not even May 3. LOL! (There is a story behind that date.)

My Mom is seriously just the sweetest and most compassionate woman that I know.  Mama, as I still call her, has changed diapers, rocked me when I was sick, wiped my head when I had fevers, washed clothes, made countless breakfasts, lunches, dinners, gave up things that she may have wanted to be able to give to her family, gave endless amounts of advice, taught me what was right and wrong, supported me all the way. She is always able to help me see the good in the midst of a bad day, circumstance, or even one of those not so good seasons of life. I cannot even describe how much I love my incredible Mom, she is truly one of a kind.

I definitely would not be where I am today without her constant encouragement and support as I have ventured through all of the ups and downs of my life. I have told her all my dreams and when I have crashed and burned she was always the one to pull me off the ground and give me that extra push. She knows the good, the bad, and the ugly about me and still loves me unconditionally.

Let me give you some reasons why Mama is so great for me:

  1.  Loving

From the first day I can remember you have always said you love me and you are proud of me. “Nak, proud ako sayo!” No matter what I did, how well I did it, or even if I did anything at all, you were there to tell me that you loved me and that you were proud of me.

  1.  Caring

You have always been more concerned about us even if it cost you sleep lalo na pag may sakit ako. From late night adventures to early morning lunch packing, you always made sure that we were taken care of even if you had to stay up late at night or get up early. I always knew that no matter what time I came home at night you would wake up to make sure that I was safe and alive.

  1.  Teaching

You taught us how to speak, to walk and to count. More than that, you never forgetting that you were a Mom, you would come home from long 8 or 10 hour days at work to just plain listen to us complain. But you always were there to teach us how to live, and that was best done by the example you showed us each and every day.

  1.  Parenting

I have always told you that if I am 30 and not married, I am adopting. Why? Because I want to be a Mom like you. I think some are afraid of being a parent, not me. I know it is not easy, but your example has shown me what it means to be a parent. You’ve been our mother and became father when Papa was gone. You have taught me about patience, about discipline, and about how to unconditionally love. I cannot wait to be a parent and try to be half as good of a parent as you.

5.

Number 5 leaving it blank. Not because I ran out of things to say about you, but because I am excited for another 51 years to celebrate your life and the many things that you have shown all of us.

Mom, you have always been doing, acting, living a life that does not sit down and expect things to happen but makes them happen. You have been an active participant in my life and our family and for that, you are the greatest Mom in the World!

I will be forever thankful that God chose me to be your daughter. I thank God for giving us a super woman like you. You have taught me to love others and find the good in everyone even when it’s really hard. I know how to work hard for what I want because you taught me value and importance perseverance. How could I ever thank you enough for all of your support ?! You have never once gave up on me and that means more to me than you’ll ever know. You are my heart and soul.

Sorry for giving you every one of those beautiful strands of gray hair. Happy birthday, Mama! I love you forever and ever. Happy 51! 🙂 ❤
